If your dealership decides to stop using ExpertConnect, you have the option to take your ExpertConnect phone number(s) with you. Below are the steps to port a phone number to the carrier of your choice. This process usually takes between 7-14 business days, depending on the gaining carrier.
1. Submit a Port-Out Request to ExpertConnect
Start by submitting a Port-out Request to the ExpertConnect team so we can prepare the necessary documents and support you through the process.
2. Contact the Gaining Carrier
Reach out to the carrier you want to transfer your number(s) to. Most carriers will require you to complete a Letter of Authorization (LOA).
- Porting rules vary by country, and not all countries support number portability.
- Follow your new carrier’s specific instructions carefully.
- Confirm with the new carrier which services (e.g., voice, SMS, WhatsApp) are supported to avoid losing functionality.
Common US carriers: Verizon, AT&T, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace
3. Complete a Letter of Authorization (LOA)
Your new carrier will typically ask for the following:
- Business name on record: Use “Twilio, Inc.” (This is the registered owner of the number.)
- Account ID: Provided by ExpertConnect
- Service address: Provided by ExpertConnect
- PIN number: Required for U.S. local numbers
- Business Telephone Number (BTN): Any number from the list you wish to port
If your new carrier requests a billing document or proof of ownership, we can provide a screenshot of your active numbers with their current carrier (Twilio). No additional proof of ownership documentation is available.
After you submit a request to your new service provider, they will contact our carrier partner to make a port request. When we receive the port-away notification, we will email you to make sure the number port request was legitimately authorized by you. Please confirm the port-away request promptly. We add this last confirmation step because there are cases in which people fraudulently port numbers.
If for any reason your port-away request is rejected, please contact us at expertconnect@johndeere.com and include the reason for the rejection provided by your new carrier.
4. Configure Settings with the Gaining Carrier
After the number(s) are ported, all configurations will be managed by your new carrier. ExpertConnect will no longer have control over the number(s).
To avoid downtime, ask if you can configure the number settings with your new carrier before the port is completed.
The ExpertConnect team is committed to supporting you throughout this transition. We’ll provide any necessary documentation and guidance to help ensure a smooth and timely onboarding experience with your new carrier. Clear communication and coordination with your new provider are key to a successful transfer.
